The food was amazing! If you're looking for something "not too heavy" with a homely feel, highly recommend.

The food here is the epitome of comfort food. The pictures and videos did not prepare me for the quality of the food. The pancakes were so filling that I had to take it to go. Out waitress was helpful in explaining alternatives since we could not do customizations to the dishes. Everyone in my party enjoyed their food and got exactly what they wanted. We came on a Sunday afternoon for brunch and the restaurant had few people. The music was great and I sang along to my favorite old school reggae tunes. This restaurant is easy to miss from the outside but the interior is so beautiful. I will definitely revisit.

The food is absolutely delicious!! I started with the split pea soup and I was immediately met with a flavorful smokiness from the turkey and from there I knew I would enjoy the experience. The service was flawless. I was greeted with smiles and all of my questions were answered. The staff here is very attentive. There is a friendly neighborhood vibe here. Cheryl was present and enjoying the lovely space she created while modern jazz was played live by friends and family. I had fish and chips and every element of the dish was perfect. The fish was crispy and flavorful. The fries fresh cut and double fried. The pepper sauce with sweet with a familiar spice. I would order it over and over. The gingerade was delicious, I had two glasses! The Mac and cheese wasn't too salty and I believe it had a hint of nutmeg that was excellent. Highly recommend stopping by.

Walked in about 3pm on a Sunday and there was no wait. We were seated in a very cute backyard patio area that's very well shaded. You fill out a form with your order and the food comes out fairly quickly. Everything tasted so fresh and ingredients seemed great quality. Staff were very kind and helpful, food was reasonably priced. I would definitely come back!

The service and food were exceptional. The staffs were incredibly attentive. If it's busy and there's a wait, be patient--it's definitely worth it. Highly recommend!

I came here for lunch in the middle of the week. I walked from the library (~4 min walk) and it was decently busy but we were still able to get a table quickly. The menus are your typical laminated menus but you get to mark what you like on a separate sheet. They provide a sharpie to write on that page. The food itself was delicious, I got the roasted potatoes with a side of eggs and toast with butter. The eggs were fluffy and light which I loved. The potatoes were good too but I prefer mine slightly more crispy on the edges, these were a bit softer. The service was great as well and despite a smaller space, the decor was beautiful as well.

Everything!!!'yummy Food, welcoming staff,Excellent service... Wow! I loved my meal and shall def return!!

I just love Cheryl's. Fantastic place for soul food in a relaxed, laid-back atmosphere [1]. I've only come here for brunch on weekends, and I never had an experience that was less than stellar: from the food, to the people, this place is just great. Perfect place if you want to grab a bite after visiting the Brooklyn Museum, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, the Central library, or on your way to Prospect Park. The outdoor patio is great for a relaxing brunch in spring/summer, and the inside is nice and cozy in the winter months. Some of the items I love to get here are: -Three Eggs your way, Bacon or Sausage, Home Fries and Toast (the pork sausage is really tasty) - Poached Eggs over Salmon Hash, Hollandaise Sauce, and Seven Grain Toast - Spinach Cheddar Tomato Omelet or Brie Scallion Tomato Omelet - Fried Fish Sandwich (tilapia, lettuce, tomato, tartar sauce, on a brioche bun) There is also a kids menu, with dishes such as four silver dollar pancakes and scoop of vanilla ice cream, or the brioche French toast with maple syrup. I never had a dish here that I didn't love and would not order again. I also appreciate that prices are still very much affordable. This is a neighborhood spot that is very popular with local residents; as such, there is often a line. 18% gratuity is added to all checks, independently of the number of people in your party. -------------------- [1] You can read more about chef/owner Cheryl Smith here: https://www.cherylsglobalsoul.com/the-chef

Had scouted this place on Yelp prior to coming and glad I did. Located just a quick 3 min walk away from the Brooklyn Library. When you walk in the hostess will great you at the entrance doors at the curtain. This place is rather small but we came close to opening time and was able to grab a seat instantly. We were seated near the window. There is also patio seating a available outside. I ordered the fried chicken and pancakes. It was good. Looked smaller than what I was expecting but trust, I left full. The chicken was boneless, perfectly seasoned and fried to perfection. The pancakes were fluffy and the lemon herb butter sauce gave it an extra kick I didn't know I needed until I realized I was scraping it up with every bite. The syrup container was a littl challenging, as it would either drip super slow or not at all. Once I found a rhythm I just drenchedy plate so I wouldn't have to deal with it anymore. I took a bite of my friends breakfast potatoes and omg they were hella good! Soft yet firm, flavorful and filling.

This is an excellent place to grab a meal before or after a visit to either the Brooklyn Museum, or the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. Why? 1. It's right around the corner. 2. The food is great. That's all you need to know, really, but here are three other things I'm going to tell you anyway: 3. The jerk pork bowl is SERIOUSLY spicy. I found it hard not to yell at my very nice server when he set down a bottle of scotch bonnet hot sauce, because my entire face was already on fire. But the jerk pork is also seriously tasty, so I'd get it again. 4. The veggie chili is pretty solid. I would probably never order it, but my mom did, and it was actually quite delicious, and a good portion. 5. They have a kid's menu, and all their meals come with milk or juice. My kid got milk, and I almost stole it to cool the flames on my face (capsaicin is fat soluble, and dairy works great).
